We designed this mug so each ghost carries a name, meaning the mug isn’t printed once and sold to anyone. It’s assembled around the family who owns it, sized ghost to child, tallest to smallest, the way siblings actually line up on a porch step. Swap in any four names and the same composition holds, the witch hat still crowning the oldest, the pumpkin pail still swinging from the second ghost’s arm.

The black cat is doing more work in this design than it looks like at first glance. It sits low between two of the ghosts, small and dark against all that white sheeting, the one character in the scene without a name below it. Everything else on the mug is a place holder for a person; the cat is just there, the way a family pet always is, uncredited but impossible to leave out of the picture.
